With the holidays going on and work getting busier than ever, oh yeah, and that little toddler I have running around, life is just cray cray these days.
But it's good. Busy in the best way possible. I feel thoroughly exhausted each day, but in an accomplished sort of way.
And to make up for my lack of blogging lately, I am going to make some blogging history - I'll actually post Jack's newest monthly update ON THE RIGHT DAY! Wooohoo! (as Jack likes to add to any success.)
So here's the newest on my best little buddy.
21 Months.
Weight: 25 lbs... still.
Length: I think like 33-34 inches? (I'm just getting better and better at keeping track of this stuff! ha!)
I'll be honest, not a ton has changed from 20 months to 21 months. I still have the same little, nap/bedtime-hating, shape-loving, picky-eating chatter box of a kid. And he's awesome. And so funny. Kids are a lot of work, but boy are they entertaining. I don't think I've felt bored in.... well, 21 months!
Jack loves:
Me.
His daddy.
Christmas lights.
Going on walks.
Shapes, colors, reading, blocks, counting.
He does love "hot chock it" lol
Jack hates:
Food.
The dark.
Being away from mommy.
Food.
Most drinks other than apple juice and breast milk.
Jack says:
"I'm afraid of the dark" (awwww, see hate column above.)
"I'm not crying/scared anymore! Woohoo!"
"Where's daddy? Is he hiding in the blanket? Oh no!" (Hide-n-go-seek with daddy)
And a bunch of other sentences. Yesterday he saw a note I'd written on my hand and he said: "Mommy, you color on yourself? Wash it off." LOL. Guess he's heard that a time or two.
He says 3-4 sentences regularly, sometimes even spouting off longer ones. He counts everything he sees. Finds shapes everywhere and has his colors accurate about 90 percent of the time. A new thing he's really good at is identifying animals and the sounds they make.
It's adorable.
Also, now every time we go to the store, he says, "we're going to get painting stuff!" haha. He's very into anything he can do that is on the messy/creative side.
I worry he's trying to outgrow naps on me already. He's starting to fall asleep for nap later and later, which is dangerous because it makes bedtime really late, which is tough on daddy and mommy to get anything done after work together. Not sure if it's going to happen, but I bet in a year he won't be napping regularly anymore.

Post-nap crazy hair.
He's also been having some pretty serious fear/nightmares in the night. He's back to being in our bed full-time because of it. I just don't know how else to help him through the scary nights. Poor kiddo.
He's eating better than he was, but I still think he hates food. He is still breastfeeding one or two times a day. He eats turkey dogs, peas, green beans, carrots, apples, pears. peaches, chicken and bacon. That's about it. Oh, and Ramen. The healthiest of all the foods. Great.
But overall, this is definitely the beginnings of my favorite stage. I love that Jack is so verbal because I think it does help cut down on tantrum throwing. He's still got his moments, but I'm pretty good at catching them before they start.

Got a little of the grumps here.
It's so hard to believe that in just three short months, I'll have a legit two year old on my hands. Craziness! Guess I better get to brainstorming bday party ideas. It'll be here before I know it!

Love you, my Jack Bean <3
