I'm at the stage of pregnancy that feels surreal. I'm huge. And uncomfortable. And I live and breathe heartburn. And I can't sleep. And I feel this tiny little alien absorbing my life force and wiggling around constantly while simultaneously making me fall more and more in love with her each day. BUT I can't picture it yet. I can't picture holding her and breastfeeding her and rocking her to sleep.
It still doesn't feel real. Even though now I'm so close I see a date for an upcoming show or movie release and it's right around my due date. Or I just noticed the almond milk we have in our fridge expires the day after my due date.
I think, will I have my baby girl by then? Will I still be hugely pregnant and uncomfortable?
It's a guessing game. With Jack, labor started early for me. Right around week 35-36. I remember going in for my Group B Strep test and they found I was already 2 cm dilated at 36 weeks! Crazy. My doctor thought for sure I'd deliver early.
I didn't. I proceeded to stay pregnant for the next five weeks. Ha.
Guess my body was ready but baby Jack wasn't.
Yesterday I had my 35 week checkup. I'm starting the every week schedule now. I did the strep test again. Oh so fun. Yuck.
Turns out I'm not dilated, which is good but I am 50 percent effaced already. So it looks like my body is gearing up again. Much like it did last time. The question is, will baby girl be more eager to go flip side than her brother? Lol. I'm also measuring 38 weeks! Eeeep!! My doctor was like, "I think you have a big baby growing in there!" Umm yeah. Oh, and she's definitely head down. Doc said he could feel her head down pretty low when he did my cervical check.
This time around, unlike with Jack, I'm in no hurry. Not because I'm not excited. Because I am sooo looking forward to meeting this little lady, but I just feel so unprepared this time around. Not sure why. Ha.
So anyway, hopefully we'll have another month to go. That would be better timing. :) Let's get to the progress update!
How far along? 35 weeks & 5 days (measuring 38! wowza. Guess I'll stop getting offended over all the twin comments. lol.)
Total weight gain: +21 (luckily I've only gained a single pound in the last two weeks. Guess it's really all baby in there.)
Maternity clothes? All day er'ry day.
Stretch marks? A few tiger stripes, yup.
Sleep: My sciatic pain is killing me. It makes sleep incredibly uncomfortable. There are mornings I wake at like 4 or 5 a.m. and just wish it was time to get up already. Even though I'm so tired.
Best moment this week: Doing some last-minute baby shopping at Target yesterday. Got a few things I really needed leading up to the birth so I could finally prep my hospital bag. It's now half-way packed. I'll share that in another post. :)
Miss Anything? Hot baths and copious amounts of caffeine.
Movement: She's still nuts. Makes me nervous for how hyper of a kid she might be on the outside. lol.
Food cravings: Not really, but Jack has been begging for watermelon on a daily basis so I've been eating a lot of that. lol. I'm also super thirsty. All of the time.
Queasy or sick: Nope.
Gender: GIRL
Labor Signs: Well I for sure have an irritable uterus, so basically my stomach is hard like when you get a Braxton hicks contraction, but it's always hard. It never releases except sometimes when I am laying down. I've also had a few decent cramping-style contractions in my lower back. I remember this drill from when I was pregnant with Jack. My body is just getting super ready!
Symptoms: Tired, emotional, excited, uncomfortable, heartburn, frequent urination. Same old same.
Belly Button in or out? Still in.
Wedding rings on or off? On
All in all I am pretty content with how things are going. I feel more prepared at least and just have a few things left to get. Still diapers... lol. But I am confident I'll have all of that taken care of in the next month or so. :)
Hope you all are having a great week!
