Patience.

(Editor's note: I wrote this post yesterday and never got around to publishing. Since then Freyja has had her puppies!! More on that in a separate post, meanwhile I still wanted to share pics here, so carry on if you wish! And tune back in later for a story about a baby...puppy(ies)!!)

Life is always taking opportunities to teach me patience. Usually it's little things...stuck in traffic, waiting on a picky toddler to peck at his breakfast, waiting on a perfectionist hubby to pack for a trip. But today, I'm reminded of one of my biggest trials of patience to date. Remember this? If you've been following my blog for a while, you will. For those of you who are new-er here, it was definitely hard. But I made it through. And waiting for that amazing little man who would change my life forever was definitely worth it.

Today, however, we're facing some similar trials. Just on a furrier scale.

Miss Freyja Puppy is due to have her pup any day. Any day now. Annny time. Really. Any time.

Come on!

Come out, puppy!! Please?!

Some of you may know, this puppy pregnancy was a total accident. Not intended at all. So please, no lectures from the peanut gallery on responsible dog ownership. Shit happens, you know? I've been researching like crazy ever since on how to help her have a healthy pregnancy and what to do during delivery.

A little bit too much research...because now I've got myself all freaked out on what can go wrong. I can't tell if this dog pregnancy is almost worse than when I was pregnant and totally freaking myself out over what could go wrong.

I think we can all just agree that I am a worrier, okay? Definitely no secret there, eh Daniel? ;)

Hopefully in the end we'll have a sweet new pup to add to our family. If not, I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Meanwhile Jack is at the sitter's today while I get some work done from home. The hardest part about all of this is because I work, it's really tough to keep waiting on this puppy to arrive. I imagine most legit breeders don't actually work, or at least one member of the household is able to stay home during puppy whelping season.

Either way, we are making this work. The sacrifices we make in life, eh?

Speaking of sacrifices, we stuck close to home this last weekend because I didn't want to leave Freyja home alone too long just in case. This means we had to miss out on going to my husband's grandfather's funeral. Daniel went with his siblings and it was really good for him. He got to stop by and see his dad's grave too. I just wish I could have been there for support.

Meanwhile at home, Jack, Rusty (my brother who is staying with us) and I, got to sit in the sweltering heat of our house - just a mere 95 degrees inside. No big. Because our stupid A/C unit conked out on us.

Sweltering.

Fortunately I was able to get a super rad/nice fixer man up at my house by that evening to fix it. Just a couple hundred bucks later, we had cool air again!! That's the thing about where we live. A/C is a MUST or you will DIE of heat. For reals.

We did risk a short trip over to my in-laws house for a quick swim to cool off, so that was nice. Rusty had a fun time! And Jack loved getting to hang out with his cousin, Carter.

We also did a few art projects. Jack asked me if he could paint a shirt (like he saw on one of his fave shows, Creative Galaxy). I love that show because I think it really helps expose him to art in a fun, entertaining way.

We were excited to have Daniel come back home Saturday night. On Sunday, while Daniel was home with the pup. The other boys and I hopped in the car to head to my little brother's house. We got him a new backpack for his recent b-day since he started college on Monday!! Whoohoo! At my Alma Mater :)

He was in the Marine Corps right out of high school, worked this past year and now is starting school and I am so proud of him!

Jack got to say hello to Marvin's snakey Inigo. Don't worry, there was lots of supervision going on here, and Inigo is a really docile type of snake.

Jack loved it.

Yesterday I got to work from home for a few hours while entertaining a toddler, my brother and watching after an anxious mama pup. It was kind of a terrible assortment of circumstances, but today is going better so far. Just hoping that little pup makes his arrival soon. (I'm predicting a boy for some reason. lol)

Working from home! Entertaining my kid with TV? Yup.

Hope you all are having a great week! Hopefully I will have some news here soon - of the furry variety!

(Check back soon!!)
