You only turn two once, so I guess turning Jack's second birthday into a three-day event was totally permissible given the official milestone from baby to toddler. With the way he talks and behaves (hello tantrums!) he's definitely a two year old, which means aside from the continued diaper use, he's no longer a baby! *sob!* although, according to Daniel, he'll always be OUR baby :) Dang straight.
We kicked off his birthday weekend Saturday with a small family and friend party. We'd originally planned to go to Las Vegas for a small family day-trip to the aquarium, but this past weekend was a big Nascar event and traffic was backed up for hours so we opted to just throw together a small party at his favorite park.
It was such a fun time! Jack is so blessed to have such incredible family and friends in his life watching him learn and grow and supporting him along the way.
He loved his cake even though his poor, cake-decorating-skill-less mama decorated it. lol. That said, he was the one who picked everything out from cake to frosting to sprinkles.
Jack loved hanging with Great Grandpa Womack.
His Papa West.
His Grandma Christy.
And his BFF Nathan. (aka "Nafan")
Blowing bubbles.
And his other BFFs Vida and Cruze on the playground.
Of course he
He had a blast with his balloons, but was devastated when not one, but two, soared away in the sky. Luckily we had a bunch on hand for that very instance :)
He was devastated, but Aunt Chauney was there to help with the aftermath. lol.
Balloon loss aside - it was such a great birthday celebration.
It was also his Aunt Courtney's birthday that day so we went out with her and my brother Marvin to dinner at Texas Roadhouse.
He even got to ride the saddle! Although I think he was really freaked out about everyone singing happy birthday. lol.
Marvin and Courtney also got Jack one of his fave bday gifts. A beta fish!! He loves his fishy! He's been obsessed with fish and sea creatures lately.
Sunday was probably one of the best days I've ever had in my life. I'm not sure why but it was just a day that I felt incredibly blessed, happy and content. It helped that the weather was absolutely warm and perfectly light breezy. Jack, Daniel and I went to a park in town with ducks, turtles and geese. Jack loved it. He wanted to pet all the birds so badly.
And did get to touch a baby turtle we found!
Monday was Jack's actual birthday. We celebrated by taking him to yet another park to try out his new tricycle (Jack will only call it "my bicycle"). He can't quite reach the pedals, but it comes with one of those push bars so he can still play on it. Secretly I'm glad he can't reach yet because in no time he's going to be unstoppable on that thing. lol.
And we also played on the playground. Jack found a tunnel. His favorite thing ever!
He's obsessed with going in tunnels and "dark caves" aka the dark bathroom or hallway. lol.
"MY TUNNEL!!"
We mostly just hung out at home after that. Daniel and I both had the day off from work so we lavished in our three-day-weekend and had a fun day.
Thanks to all of Jack's many fans and loved ones who made his day so special. We love all of you lots!
Happy birthday, my sweet Jack Bean. Mommy loves you so much!
