Ho, Ho, Ho!

Christmas has come and gone and while it was a magical time, I am really eager to start the New Year and get my life back into some semblance of order. Plus, i love making goals. Love it. And the start of the New Year is always a good chance to start some new goals.

More on my resolutions later. Let's talk about Christmas and how incredibly fortunate we were this year. If you've read my recent posts about my homeless initiative we did at my work, my eyes were really opened and I completely have to say I have it good and my son has it good. We don't have everything we could ever want, but we are blessed in so many ways and I am so grateful.

We are particularly grateful to Jack's amazing grandparents who decided to spoil the crap out of this kid.

Starting on Christmas Eve, we went to Dan's mom and step dad's house to open presents and have chili. It was so fun and relaxing. Got to spend time with Dan's step brother and his wife who are expecting their first baby in February.

Jack loved his presents from Grandma Christy. She got him some super cute outfits, a mini Target shopping cart! and a super nice kid-friendly tablet (not pictured.)

She and Daniel also went in on my present together and surprised me with my amazing new Coach bag! I typically buy cheap purses, but this was a really generous gift and I am thrilled :)

On Christmas Day, we started out by opening presents from Santa at our house. Jack was so excited and totally understood what it meant to actually open gifts. He really did get hung up on wanting to play with each present though. He loved this little Melissa and Doug deluxe pounding bench. And insisted on taking it with him in his new wagon from Grandma Kathy while I pulled him around the house. Ha!

He loves that new wagon. He kept saying: "Wagon is awesome!" So funny. I can't wait until the weather is nicer and we can take him in it to the park :)

After many cups of coffee and mountains of wrapping paper later, we braved the state-wide snow storm and headed to Green River to visit my family. We stopped quite a few times along the way so this scared mommy could get her bearings. It had been a while since I had driven in that kind of snow, slush and ice, but despite four hours of white knuckling it, I got us there safely. (Thanks, new car with all-wheel drive!)

Letting Jack take a turn while we stopped along the way :)

It was then Grandma Kathy's turn to do the spoiling. She'd already given him the Radio Flyer wagon, which we gave him at our house. And she got him a few other things. Top fave being his new John Deer dump truck.

Most of all I think Jack loved the snow.

And his new helicopter from Daddy.

These two had so much fun with that toy helicopter. So much fun watching them have a cute father/son experience.

It's all kind of a blur but Jack was chasing that "copter" around everywhere.

That's the part I loved the best. Sure, getting new awesome stuff is always nice, not gonna lie. But the best part about Christmas to me is the enjoyment the kids get out of it and the spending time together with family. It was amazing to get to see my siblings (Missed you, Kelly and clan!) and my parents. I also got to spend part of it with my new family - the family I got when I married Daniel and I feel so fortunate to have such amazing people in my life.

Thank you all for making our lives so special and I wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Xoxo
