(And please ignore the fact that I never actually did a 16 month update. Whoops!)
My little man is now 17 months old! I can't even believe how quickly time flies. I know I say that all the time in these posts, but it really does catch me off guard. I am loving this stage of his life. I love all the stages, but Jack is getting so smart and so involved in everything we do. He doesn't just sit there and watch. It's clear how quickly he's learning.
Jack loves:
His mommy! (melts me every single time he says my name.)
These guys babysit him regularly so they get to be his next favorites. After mommy and daddy of course :)
He really loves all of his extended family, grandparents, aunts and uncles, but it takes him a while to warm up to everyone. We're so lucky to live so close to all of my in-laws and now my brother and SIL.
Still loves his paci.
Loves bath time (requests bath time. Seriously. I hope that lasts through puberty!)
Post bath naked towel run :)
Loves puppies.
Loves playing outside.
Loves watermelon. Probably as much as me.
He and I both demolished a watermelon this week. He probably are half. It's his Green River heritage.
And of course, he loves making messes.
Jack Says:
He says all the words. Seriously. He talks so much and pretty much repeats anything we say. He has started stringing together sentences really well.
"Daddy go bye!"
"Mommy, come here!"
"What are you doing?"
"Where did he go?"
"I want down/out/up."
And in addition to knowing pretty much every word for everyday objects (ie. couch, outside, car, sky, flower, balloon, monkey, plant, puppy, kitty, etc.) other cute words he's saying these days include:
"Cheese!" At photo times. (Methinks someone takes too many pics of this kid.)
"Please?"
"Eat, eat" (when he wants to nurse)

"Zoom!" (Thanks, Umi Zoomie)
He also knows the difference between his opposites: hot/cold, up/down, in/out, on/off.
He also knows some shapes: heart, circle, star and triangle. Knows one color: blue. Haha! And can count to three.
He's starting to get really amazing at communication (for a 17-month-old) but he knows how to ask me for certain things. Yesterday he wanted me to get him some water, so he took my finger and picked up his sippy cup and took it to the fridge asking the whole time for "watery" (how he says water, lol).
He later did the same thing and asked me for a "strawzies" (how he says straw.) Clever boy.
He also loves to sing Ring Around the Rosies. Nevermind the creepy meaning behind this song, he loves it! And loves to play with all of the adults (me, hubby, Aunt Courtney and Uncle Marvin) and we all play together. Then later I even heard him singing, "Ash, ashes we alllll down!"
SO cute.
I know, I'm totally bragging. I don't even care.
Other updates:
We finally put him in the toddler bed! Sorta. I imagine it will be a combination of co-sleeping most of the night with him at least starting out in the toddler bed. We put it right next to our bed so he can just climb in with us at night when he needs to. I am 100 percent happy with this scenario. I know he'll continue to get more and more independent as he gets older - especially in regard to sleep. For now, this arrangement works perfectly for our family.
It's crazy to think I am going to have a two year old in no time. Time, slow DOWN!
