Still, the kids and I are soaking up the beautiful days and enjoying what is left of fall before the snow comes. On the that day I will be sad because I love me the fall season.
Some of you may know, Daniel and I were able to pay off all of our debt when we moved. We were so lucky to have bought our house at just the right time (2008, financial destruction abound) and because of that, and thanks to the recovery brought on by President Obama, we were able to see about a 50 percent increase in the value of our home. (#sorrynotsorry for the political digs. I'm still recovering lol)
We paid off our new car, my student loans, healthcare debt, credit cards, plus purchase a new car outright with cash. It was a good feeling. Now, however we find ourselves needing to stay on top of our finances, finally start saving for retirement and most of all - stay out of debt.
Even though I want to have fun with the kids, we need to keep our activities on the cheap. Here are a just a few of our favorite Frugal Fall Fun activities:
While I think most pumpkin patches might be closed for the season, corn mazes are often open for a few more weeks.
The kids and the dogs are loving going on daily walks and soaking up the sun and crisp fall air.
Jack is having so much fun using leaves to color and make pictures for family members.
The fall color scavenger hunt is one of my fave activities. It's free and can be done any time, any place.
For me, cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate just scream fall. I am normally a huge coffee lover, but there is something about hot chocolate during the fall and winter that just makes you feel so cozy. Plus, baking? Yes, yes, yes!
Keeping our fun frugally sound is super important right now so we can buy a new home this next year (renting suuuucks). In fact, to help keep us motivated, we are using the free financial software app from Personal Capital. It offers a ton of great tools to help you keep track of what you're spending, where your money is going, fees you might be paying, retirement savings and more. Be sure to check it out!
What kinds of Frugal Fall Fun activities do you do with your kids??
