Weekend of Fun and Productivity

Do you ever just have those really awesome weekends that are a perfect mix of fun, productivity and relaxation? They are the best!

This weekend we found dinosaur bones, spring summer cleaned our house, did yard work and watched way too many episodes of Pretty Little Liars. (Well, that last part might have been just me. :P)

Saturday I knew I didn't want to just sit around all day because what fun is that on a Saturday?! So we went to the Dinosaur Tracks Museum. If you are local and haven't been, I highly suggest it! Jack is starting to love dinosaurs, so I knew he'd get a big kick out of seeing the giant dino tracks, replicas and other bits of history they uncovered in 2000.

Here is a little blurb from the website: "In 2000, local optometrist Dr. Sheldon Johnson was leveling a hill on his property in St. George, Utah. As he removed layers of sedimentary rock, he encountered a thick level of sandstone. As he tore it up in large blocks, a fantastic object was revealed - a three-dimensionally preserved dinosaur track. It was to be the first of thousands of tracks made by dinosaurs and other animals that have now been recognized or recovered from the numerous layers of sandstone and mudstone that formed almost 200 million years ago on the shores of an ancient lake in the vicinity of St. George."

So it was a really fun time! Jack loved it but so did we. Daniel used to be a big dino nerd and I probably would have become a paleontologist in another life. For realz.

After that, we went to dinner at El Pollo Loco and ran into Dan's Mom and Stepdad there! Small world.

We then went home, just in time for the rain to hit, and for Jack to take a three-hour nap. It got so dark because of the rain, I am sure he was thinking it was night time!

During that time, I marathoned me some PLL. I am so behind! (Should I even admit that on social media after having just turned 28...?)

Anyway, Sunday started out as a day of relaxation, followed by mass amounts of cleaning and taking box after box to our storage unit. Conveniently this super cute little coffee place is next to the storage unit so we stopped by there for coffee and smoothies!

View from the coffee shop! Cool, Eh?

View from the patio.

Sunday night was followed by some yard work and hanging out with the pups.

It also consisted of Jack running around like a crazy person. Speaking of, he clearly used his high levels of intelligence to read some of my past blog entries touting him to be this amazingly well-behaved toddler, because he pulled out the big guns this weekend! Hitting, ignoring me, spitting all over the house, spraying water in the house. Yikes!! All done with a smile on his face and laughter on his lips. Come on, kid! What the heck?!

As most of you who are regular readers on my blog know, I try to employ a gentle parenting approach meaning no spanking and no time-outs. Fortunately this amazing site I know about had some really good ideas on how to handle him turning into a little turkey all weekend. Check it out if you're interested. I suggest this site to all of my mom friends with toddlers, but they include info for all ages of kids. It really works!! Jack was acting much better after I used some of these limit-setting techniques.

Despite those little hiccups, the weekend we had a great weekend and had so much fun!

Hope you all had a fun weekend too. Happy Monday!!
