22 month update!

Jack already acts like a two year old in just about every way, so I'm not really sure why I am so emotional at the fact that my baby is almost not a baby anymore. Ha. I love seeing him grow more and more into the man he'll one day become, but for now I do my best to treasure all of the moments I have with him.

The other morning I was up early trying to write this blog post before he woke up and I missed my chance. He came out as soon as I got my laptop turned on and this was our exchange.

*sleepy eyes, bed head, confused look on his face*

Jack: "Mommy, where daddy go?"
Me: "He had to go to work."
Jack: "Oh okay."

*Stumbles toward my outstretched arms. I pick him up and cuddle him*

Jack: "Ahh hug."

Seriously, this kid melts my heart on a regular basis.

He's so sweet and loving and opinionated and bossy. But he's Jack and that's who he is. I get frustrated with some of those characteristics sometimes - especially the bossy part. But then I realize he's just like me and that makes those traits easier to understand :)

We're both cray cray.

I also love that we are at the point we can have full on conversations with one another. He's astoundingly smart and knows things I've never even taught him. He absorbs everything like a sponge. It's impressive and I realize I brag a lot, but I can't help it.

So let's update you all on how 22 months is looking so far:

Weight: 26 lbs - barely
Height: no idea

We've continued to see changes in terms of sleep patterns - like always. I am still breastfeeding, mostly at night so he wakes up usually at about 5 or 6 a.m. to nurse and then goes back to sleep for another hour or two in the morning. He is pretty much sleeping through the night though. He sleeps half the night in his bed and then crawls into our bed for the second half. There was one night he stayed there all night. We're making progress :)

Naps are .... rough. Again. He's decided to start outgrowing them on me and that is stressing me out. haha.  I'll be surprised if he's still napping at 2.5 years old.

We worked hard for this nap :)

Jack also went potty for the first time in his training potty! We're not pushing PT yet, but we are just letting him get used to the idea on his own.

I also think he's finally starting to outgrow size four diapers! After a year. haha.
Jack loves...

His mommy

His daddy

His new puppy

Playing outside

His paci's. I turned around and he'd figured out how to do this all by himself. Little goofy guy. And in case you were wondering, paci weaning is going great. *she said with heavy sarcasm*

And... (Not pictured)
Bath time
Watching his fave shows
Ramen Noodles (still hates most food, but this one is always a winner. Yay sodium! lol)

But trust me, it's not all roses over here. The tantrums we face sometimes are pretty cray cray. But the nice thing about Jack being so verbal is that he does a good job of expressing his needs. So that makes it way easier to figure out why he's upset. But he's also learning limits and that he can't always have his own way (I'm learning how to not be such a push over! lol)

So far it's going really well. He gets over his tantrums pretty quickly.

Jack is also learning the fine art of imitation.

Last night Daniel was buzzing his hair and Jack picked up a brush and pretended to do it too. He loves sitting just like daddy on the couch and loves pretending to put on makeup while I get ready in the morning.

Had to eat his banana just like daddy.

He knows his colors about 95 percent of the time. Knows so many shapes.

"Mommy it's a rhombus!"

Umm what??

He counts easily to 13, but kinda stops after that. He has the books "Good Night, Moon" and "Chicka, Chicka Boom Boom" 100 percent memorized. He has a few others sorta memorized too. He knows his ABCs pretty well, but not 100 percent. He has a few songs memorized from some of his fave shows and will sing them at random times. He's pretty fun to watch. And is constantly surprising me.

He's doing really well with having a puppy. I love the added responsibility it's giving him as well as the kindness he's learning in caring for another. He really loves her and asks for her as soon as he wakes up in the morning or from his nap.

I am loving this stage, like all the others, but the closer we get to age 2, the more time seems to fly!

Thanks for following along on our journey so far :)
